Overpriced is what I say.  Call it straw and it becomes cheap.  Cheap as in “honey, let’s do a quick stop at the local dollar store and pick up a STRAW BAG for the beach”.

Here’s what’s new from D&G’s straw collection of handbags. The D&G Straw Tote.  Is it really overpriced?  You decide.

Though this bag looks similar to most straw bags, this bag has a price tag of $449. Yes, we’ll be buying a better quality bag, we say, as we try to convince ourselves.  It’s worth it because of the name brand, but does it have to be that expensive? Apparently, in this case, the brand name imposes the price tag, I guess.

The questions to ask yourself are would you purchase this piece of accessory? Or would you be practical and buy something of it’s true value in worth?  After all, this is a seasonal bag.  Also, do you believe this bag was crafted by a seasoned artisan or assembled by an unfortunate individual who is being paid below Fair Trade wages.

For our affluent friends, buying this bag would require no second thoughts.  But for the price conscious, eco-fabulous, fashionista, this is an indulgence that one can do without.  Instead purchase something of a higher quality and more affordable, such as the following water hyacinth tote, suggested price under $45!  Made just as well, if not better, but without the leather accents.
